There is a place in my memory where all the colors are grey. My heart is broken from rejection; poisoned by harsh words and abuse. As I sit on a cold concrete step outside our home I ask, why would God make someone like me? How did I become the object of my mother's scorn and the outlet of her pain? I realize I have nothing to offer, I have no value, and I am worthless. I begin to self-medicate to cover the pain. I am now lost, hopeless, and in need of a rescuer. This is my life's story of how a life can go from grey to gold; from death to life.
